Garden Update 6/30/11

These are my giant pumpkins. They are doing well in this semi shaded spot.

Front yard garden seems to be doing well. Sunflowers are getting taller. Everything else is nice and green and ready to bloom any second. The Stella de Oro bloomed yesterday.

Kids helped plant these Mammoth sunflowers. I can't wait for them to reach their mature height. They can reach up to 15 feet.

Morning glory and Moon flower. I put some twine on the branch tee pee. I really hope they take off up the trellis soon.

Pat's Veggie Garden

I wanted to share pictures of my friend Pat's veggie garden. She had 5 8x4 beds and 2 1x8 beds. The beds were filled with "black gold" soil/compost. She started seeds inside in early Spring then transplanted once the beds were completed and filled. This first time veggie gardener gets an A+.

Garden Update 6/22/11

Runner beans wrapping themselves around tee pee trellis now. I've pinched off the bottom leaves on some of them to promote side growth. It's been raining so I haven't had to water often.

Here's another view of the veggie-herb garden.

These are morning glory (Star of Yelta) Vigorious climber 4-6' Ht. mixed in with Moonflower "Giant White". This is probably and overkill of seeds in one spot but, I had so many seeds and not many places laid out for them. Oh, well. Trial and error. I have other spots around the house with other types of morning glory's. Will post pics soon.

I have to still tie twine around the branches. Will post more pics of this project later.

Kids Veggie Garden. They have pumpkin, tomatoes, corn, cucumber, peas, lettuce, carrots, and yellow pepper growing. I staked the tomato plants yesterday with thick bamboo I had from last year. I still have to tie them to the bamboo.

My peas. they are growing super fast. I have to make a support for them. Work in progress.
